Jamseng Health Care Centre is part of the Zadoh project,
and affiliated with Gaden Relief Projects.The centre aims
to provide accessible health care for rural Tibet and has
materialised from a vision of Zasep Rinpoche, whose ancesteral
home is Yol Nin Gar.
Introduction
High
in the mountains of Eastern Tibet at the head waters of the
Mekong River, live 8,000 nomadic Tibetans in a village called
Yol Nin Gar. Yol Nin Gar is a 6-hour horseback ride from the
nearest town, Zadoh, and is home to Jamseng Health Care Centre.
Rinpoche left Tibet in 1959
and currently resides in Canada. The Jamseng Health Care Centre
is the initial phase of his dream to improve the quality of
life for the people of this reion. Vision Rinpoche's vision
is to enrich the quality of life for the nomadic people of
the Zadoh region of Kham, Eastern Tibet, by providing accessible
comprehensive health care services.
Mission
The mission of Jamseng Health
Care Centre is to provide comprehensive health care services
thereby reducing infant mortality, improving maternal and
child health, minimizing the suffering from chronic conditions
and eliminating preventable diseases for nomadic Tibetans
in Yol Nin Gar region.
Goals
- To support the Jamseng Health
Care Centre through donations with a view to becoming self
sufficient with locally trained doctors.
- To provide education and
training for local residents in public health, eg. Hygiene
and sanitation.
- To train local students
in Tibetan medicine and in Western health care practices.
- To provide vocational training
in traditional arts and crafts, to promote self sufficiency
and preserver a way of life.
In August 2001, the building
of the Jamseng Health Care Centre was completed with the support
of worldwide donations. It is located on a 4-acre site donated
by the village chief of Yol Nin Gar and the mayor of Zadoh.
There is a fenced area for patients and their families to
camp while receiving treatment.
Your
contrbution to the Jamseng Health Care Centre will have a
substantial impact on the lives of the Tibetan people. More
than 95% of all donations go to Jamseng Health Care Centre.
